An optional safety-readiness primer precedes five original visual lessons introducing practical chess ideas. They are not a universal ranking, a complete course, or a reproduction of Pawnpetal’s in-app curriculum. Exact lesson moves and practice positions are independently rule-checked. Each foundation has a guided flow with three learner decisions, followed by an optional fresh-position check. Flow completion, goal finding and lesson exploration are tracked separately, not treated as mastery. Opponent replies are authored examples, not engine-certified best moves or forced lines. The six-position downloads remain the separate tactical collection.
Game rules are powered by chess.js (BSD-2-Clause license). There are no full games or computer opponents here. Progress and your last lesson or exercise selection are saved only in this browser on this device when local storage is available. Short guided flows and exercises restart from their beginning on reload. Earlier game saves are left untouched and are not loaded by this guided experience. There is no account or cross-device sync. Clearing browser data removes these saves.
Decorative artwork is AI-generated. The playable and teaching boards are rendered from actual chess positions. Piece artwork uses licensed DejaVu outlines.
Drag the garden to explore. Scroll the wheel over the map to zoom around the pointer. Arrow keys pan when the map is focused. Plus and minus zoom; Home returns to the root.
