Technical leadership

A fractional CTO for the decisions and delivery ahead.

Work directly with Gal Itach on technical direction, architecture and engineering execution. Scope the engagement around the decisions your business needs to make and the work your team needs to ship.

Who this is for

Founders planning a first product, teams that need senior technical direction without a full-time CTO, and established software businesses facing architecture, reliability or delivery problems. The starting point is a specific business constraint and an engineering team we can work with.

Services and tangible deliverables

Technical direction

Turn product goals and constraints into an engineering roadmap. Review build-versus-buy choices, dependencies and delivery risks.

Deliverables: A prioritized roadmap, decision records and a risk register.

Architecture and security

Review service boundaries, data flows, cloud infrastructure and security assumptions with the people who operate the system.

Deliverables: An architecture review, system diagrams and a sequenced improvement plan.

Engineering leadership

Support engineers through design reviews, code reviews and difficult delivery decisions. Help founders define the technical roles their team needs.

Deliverables: Review notes, engineering priorities and role or hiring criteria.

Hands-on delivery

Investigate a difficult production issue or implement an agreed part of the product across backend, web or native apps.

Deliverables: Reviewed code, relevant tests and an operational handover for the agreed scope.

The final scope and deliverables are agreed for each engagement.

How an engagement works

  1. Describe the decision

Share your product stage, team, current constraint and the decision or delivery milestone you need help with.

  2. Agree the scope

We identify the systems and people involved, agree access, and define the deliverables, availability and review points before work begins.

  3. Work with your team

I review the evidence, document tradeoffs and work with your engineers on the agreed priorities. You receive decisions and next actions in plain language.

  4. Review and hand over

We assess the agreed deliverables, document remaining risks and decide whether to continue, narrow the engagement or hand it back to your team.

Experience you can inspect

My published career history covers engineering at Microsoft, Intel, Cellebrite, BigID and Forcepoint, including security, data platforms and native software. I also build and maintain the Valorem app portfolio across Apple and Android platforms.

Tell me what needs to move forward

Email a short outline of your product, team, current challenge and timing. We can discuss the scope, working arrangement and fees based on what you need.
