The Board Fights Back
In traditional CCGs, the board is a passive table. In Covenant Cards, the board is a hostile environment. We introduced Battlefield Effects to simulate the chaotic reality of history.
Environmental Hazards
Each Act in the campaign features a persistent global rule that changes how you play:
- The Plague (Egypt Era): At the end of every turn, all minions take 1 damage. This kills "Token" decks instantly. You must draft high-health units to survive the attrition.
- Unstable Walls (Jericho Era): The "Taunt" keyword is disabled globally. You cannot hide behind walls. The enemy can strike your face directly. This forces a frantic race for lethal damage.
- Holy Ground (Jerusalem Era): All healing effects are doubled. This turns "Priest" decks into immortal engines, but also buffs the enemy's sustain.

The Hidden "Evolution" System
We hid a secret mechanic deep in the game code. We call it The Exodia Protocol.
If you manage to arrange specific cards in a specific order on the board, they trigger a Fusion Event.
Example: The Prophet's Ascension
- Requirements: You must have Prince Moses (a 4-cost unit) on the board, flanked by two Israelite Wanderers on the left and two Levite Guards on the right.
- The Event: A massive graphical glitch consumes the board. The screen shakes. The five cards merge.
- The Result: They transform into Moses, Lawgiver (Divine Rarity).
- Stats: 10/10.
- Ability: "The Ten Plagues" (Deal 5 damage to all enemies, Restore full health to your Hero).
This system rewards players who study the lore. The specific arrangements are based on historical formations and biblical narrative structures. It turns deck-building into a puzzle: can you survive long enough to assemble the pieces?
