The Algorithm of Fairness: Pity Timers & Economy

Why we hard-coded generosity into the pack opening system.

The "Never Lucky" Problem

We dislike predatory mobile game mechanics. You know the type: you open 50 packs and get nothing but common items. It feels bad. It feels like the game is working against you.

For Covenant Cards, we wanted an economy based on Fairness, not gambling.

The Pity Timer Engine

Deep in our economy logic, we track "unlucky streaks" for every rarity tier.

Every time you open a pack and don't get a high-rarity card, internal counters increment. These are invisible to the player, but they ensure that bad luck is statistically impossible to maintain.

The Guarantee

  • Legendary: Guaranteed within a specific pack threshold.
  • Mythic: Guaranteed largely before you hit the statistical average.
  • Divine: Even the rarest cards have a hard ceiling on how long they can evade you.

But here is the trick: The probability isn't flat. As the internal timer increases, the mathematical probability of drawing the card accelerates. By the time you approach the limit, you are almost statistically certain to see that golden glow.

Visualizing Rarity

When you finally hit that 0.1% Divine card, we want you to know it. We trigger a massive particle explosion and camera shake. The phone executes a custom haptic pattern that mimics a heavy heartbeat.

We built an economy that wants you to win. Because if you have cool cards, you'll play more decks. And if you play more decks, the simulation stays alive.

Open a pack. The odds are in your favor.

Live System NoticeActive Development

Covenant Cards is a living, evolving simulation. While this archive strives for accuracy, the Architects (Developers) frequently deploy new patches, balance updates, and timeline extensions. Some card stats or mechanics mentioned above may vary in the latest build (v2.0+).
